Recently I was asked to think about the psychology of self-confidence.  What is confidence?  How can it be nurtured?  What is the role of genetics?   What can a woman do to increase her self-confidence?  As a psychologist and executive coach, I am well aware of the importance of self-confidence on a woman’s success at work.   Let’s face it, confidence is a complex aspect of self that begins early in life and is shaped through experience.  For a deeper look at this topic, I recommend that you read a thoughtful Forbes.com article by Alice G. Walton titled Where Does Self-Confidence Come From? It includes some quotes by me as well as a slide show of tips to increase women’s self-confidence.
